The Department of Civil Aviation and Sharjah Airport Authority Celebrates the Flag Day

Yesterday, the Department of Civil Aviation and Sharjah Airport Authority (SAA) celebrated UAE Flag Day, which is commemorated on November 3rd each year, in the presence of HE Sheikh Faisal bin Saoud Al Qassimi, Director of SAA, HE Sheikh Sultan bin Abdullah Al Thani, Director of DCA, staff from both organisations and representatives from a number of government and private entities operating at the airport.

During the festive event, which included a variety of activities, the UAE flag was raised in front of the management building as a large number of officials and employees sang along to the national anthem. Other government and private sector organisations also raised flags across the country simultaneously.

HE Sheikh Khalid Issam Al Qassimi, Chairman of the Department of Civil Aviation in Sharjah, said, “Flag Day is an important occasion for all of us to remember our beloved country’s great achievements over the decades, which have contributed to its international reputation for happiness, generosity, tolerance, courage, innovation and development. On this day, we appreciate the efforts of the Founding Fathers and the sacrifices they made for the union in order to create a united country.”
He added, “This celebration commemorates the accession of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates. Under his wise leadership and the leadership of the Rulers and Crown Princes of the Emirates, the UAE continues to grow, prosper and enjoy a prominent position in various fields. The directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, have also had a great impact on the progress, growth, prosperity and well-being of Sharjah in particular and the UAE in general. On this happy occasion for the people of the UAE, we celebrate our unity, loyalty and love for our country.”

HE Ali Salim Al Midfa, Chairman of SAA, said, “Flag Day is a national occasion to renew our loyalty to the wise leadership that has achieved so much for our beloved UAE. The flag will remain the symbol of our country, which has become a model for goodness and generosity by embracing people of all nationalities and which sets an example in terms of advancement, growth and prosperity with its approach to coexistence and tolerance.”

He added, “This occasion is an invitation to follow the sound directives of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, by advancing in terms of empowerment. We will improve the quality of our work, excellence and creativity and our loyalty to the leadership and the UAE in order to accelerate and optimise the UAE’s sustainable development in the political, economic and social sectors, with humans as the means, the purpose and the goal.”

Flag Day is a national occasion that the UAE celebrates on November 3rd each year on the anniversary of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s accession as President of the UAE. It is one of the most prominent events on the national agenda given the symbolism of the flag, which reflects the UAE’s unity and sovereignty and its cultural and humanitarian achievements.
