Sharjah, UAE – March 19, 2017: Sharjah Airport Authority participated in the 24th Moscow International Travel and Tourism Exhibition from March 14th to 16th, 2017 which took place at the Expo Centre Fairgrounds Moscow, Russia. In addition to many participants representing the aviation, hospitality, travel and tourism sectors.
MITT is considered one of the largest Russian travel exhibitions with the highest continuity, where over 1,800 companies participate from 192+ destinations, annually. It is considered as a main platform to meet the most prominent workers in this sector as well as allows participants to promote their destinations.
The participation of Sharjah Airport Authority comes within that of the Emirate of Sharjah under the umbrella of the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCDTA), with the presence several senior government officials and representatives from the public and private sectors.
H.E Ali Salim Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Airport Authority, said: ‘MITT is a great opportunity to meet, communicate and exchange views with officials at a regional and global level as well as a chance to inform our partners about our latest developments, projects, services and facilities.’
H.E also pointed out the importance of the latest decision to add Russia to the list of 47 countries exempted from UAE entry visa requirements, as of February 2017.
He also expressed his gratitude to Sharjah Commercial and Tourism Development Authority ‘SCTDA’ for its continuous efforts and support put into promoting Sharjah as a leading tourism destination to the regional and global market.
H.E Sheikh Faisal Bin Saoud Al Qassimi, Director of Sharjah Airport Authority said: ‘MITT is the ideal platform for Sharjah International Airport to educate officials in local, regional and international travel and tourism companies, especially participants in the exhibition, about services, facilities and B2B endeavors in addition to sharing the best practices in aviation, travel and tourism. We also participate in a series of business meetings with participants, whether from Russia or different parts of the world to establish and develop partnerships.’
MITT welcomes visitors from both trade and consumer. In 2016, the event recorded an attendance of 28,035 unique visitors, 76% of whom were travel trade professionals.
