Employees of the Department of Civil Aviation and Sharjah International Airport Authority observed a minute of silence for honoring the sacrifices offered by UAE righteous and immortal Martyrs in recognition of their sacrifices to protect our country. This was during the “Martyr’s Day” event that included raising the Flag on the rhythm of the UAE national anthem.

The event, in recognition of their sacrifices, was held before the airport management building and was attended by H.E. Sheikh Khalid bin Issam Al Qassimi, Chairman of the Department of Civil Aviation, H.E. Ali Salim Al Midfa, Director General of Sharjah Airport Authority, and H.E. Sheikh Faisal Bin Saud Al Qasimi, Director of Sharjah Airport Authority along with staff and representatives of companies operating at the airport.

H.E. Sheikh Khalid bin Issam Al Qassimi said: “On this glorious occasion, in commemoration of heroism and sacrifice of our martyrs, we express our pride in their generous spirit towards our nation and our country.”

H.E. Ali Salim Al Midfa said, “Sharjah Airport Authority takes participation in “Martyr’s Day” very seriously. It is when we remember sacrifices offered by our nation’s martyrs to keep the UAE flag flying. This ceremony confirms that our nation does not forget those who give sacrifices in the course of defending their country. Our martyrs’ souls shall remain a beacon for us in showing the way forward in our march for pride and dignity.”

H.E. Sheikh Faisal Bin Saud Al Qasimi said: “On Martyr’s Day, we recognise and appreciate the spirit of giving shown by our martyrs who served our country. Indeed, they have gone, but they left the values of loyalty and patriotism instilled in our souls and the souls our young people too. Thus, we are here today to share our pride and dignity by asking Allah, the Almighty, to bless their souls with mercy and forgiveness.”

Martyr’s Day is an anniversary to celebrate pride and dignity in the UAE, where both the leadership and residents admire the martyrs’ sacrifices. It also stresses the values of loyalty, sacrifice and heroism that stemmed from Islam, the religion that honoured martyrs and their heroism in the course of protecting their countries and nations.
