Running from 21-23 February in Johannesburg, South Africa Sharjah International Airport showcases its latest facilities and services at Air Cargo Africa 2017

Sharjah, 26 Feb 2017: Sharjah Airport Authority participated in the Fourth AirCargo Africa Exhibition showcasing its latest services and logistic facilities in addition to exploring other business opportunities.

AirCargo Africa is considered a huge event set between the 21st to 23rd  of February 2017 in Johannesburg, South Africa. It engages the global air cargo community to explore and strengthen networks with the African Continent giving an opportunity for Manufacturers, Shippers, Airlines, Airports, Freight forwarders, charter providers, cargo handlers and IT solution providers around the world to display their products and services and discuss issues concerning the business opportunities for trade with Africa and other markets.

H.E. Ali Salim Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Airport Authority spoke about the significance of this event: “Sharjah International Airport’s participation at the AirCargo Africa 2017 comes in line with our business plan to showcase the latest services and facilities of Sharjah International Airport to the air cargo community. This event is an effective platform to meet with the experts and industry decision makers, including international airports, cargo airlines, consolidators, freight forwarders as well as our partners within this industry worldwide. It is also a chance to exchange views with the experts on the latest industry developments”.

H.E also stated: “Air freight market has developed rapidly in the African continent over the past years and was able to gain a clear significance, becoming one of the promising markets that received a broad span of attention.”

H.E. Sheikh Faisal bin Saoud Al Qassimi, Director of Sharjah Airport Authority also said: “AirCargo Africa trade show is a global event that brings together leading players in cargo and logistics to discuss and explore African market potentials. The event is very important due to the representation quantity and the level of exhibitors and visitors. Recently, we have introduced innovative solutions and facilities to meet the expectations and requirements of the international freight agents. Modern technology enables us to create logistic solutions, such as the state-of-the-art time and temperature controlled Pharma & Healthcare handling facility, which is the only CEIV certified by IATA in the Middle East region”.

Sharjah International Airport is also equipped with five cargo terminals with a total floor area of 32,000 square meters and is seen as the region’s leading cargo hub with dedicated cargo aircraft parking spaces, that can handle up to 16 aircrafts of different types, at the same time.
