Sharjah Aviation Services completes ISAGO audit and registration

Sharjah International Airport proudly announce that following the successful completion of the station and corporate audits carried out in November 2015, Sharjah Aviation Services (SAS) being the official & sole ground handling service provider at Sharjah International Airport has been awarded by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) with the “IATA Safety Audit for Ground Operations” (ISAGO) accreditation, a standardized and structured audit program for Ground Handling Agents/Ground Service Providers (GSP).ISAGO provides SAS with a structured, air- transport related operational risk & safety management on its organization and station ground handling, the results of audits being registered and shared amongst IATA member airlines.ISAGO, and Sharjah Aviation Services use internationally recognized ground operational standards and recommended practices. The audits, both preliminary and final are conducted by highly trained and experienced auditors, in Sharjah, the audits were carried out by German company Aviation Quality Services GmbH a subsidiary of Lufthansa Flight Training.ISAGO offers various benefits to airlines, ground handlers, regulatory as well as airport authorities, providing the frame for safer ground operations, elimination of redundant audits, reduced costs, less damage, a identical audit process and harmonized standards, enhanced safety oversight, harmonized auditor training and qualifications, improved quality standards, enhanced understanding of high-risk areas within ground operations.H.E. Ali Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Aviation Services and Chairman of Sharjah Airport Authority noted, “The ISAGO program has been the perfect opportunity for SAS to document its high safety standards and that of the airport with a dependable, international safety audit program recognized by the aviation industry.This will allow Sharjah Airport’s existing, and new customers, to place their handling requirements in the hands of a trusted safe and secure partner “.The SAS Team, led by Mohammad Al Zaghlawan (General Manager) and the Unit Heads (Safety & Quality, Ramp Handling, Baggage Handling, Customer Services and Cargo Handling & HR) have managed to achieve accreditation in less than a year.Mr. Al Zaghlawan , General Manager SAS continued “ The extremely short period of time required to gain accreditation is proof of the excellent previously kept safety standards and processes, which Sharjah Airport prides itself of.”
