Sharjah, 2nd November 2014: Sharjah Airport Authority and the Ministry of Health “Sharjah Medical District” signed on Thursday a memorandum of understanding whereby Sharjah Medical District will provide technical support and train doctors, technicians and nurses at the Airport’s medical center, as part of efforts to further enhance the collaboration and coordination between them.The Memorandum of Understanding was signed at a ceremony held at the airport management building in the presence of His Excellency Ali Salim Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Airport Authority and Mr.Mohammed Abdullah Al Zarooni, Acting Director General of Sharjah Medical District.HE Ali Salim Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Airport Authority said: “The signing of the MoU with Sharjah Medical District reflects the commitment of the Sharjah International Airport to provide the best services for travelers and airport users, especially since the airport has been registering an increase in passenger Numbers every year- it deals with around 800,000 passengers monthly- which requires high quality services. We believe that the Sharjah Medical District has the capability to equip the medical center at the airport terminal updated with the latest facilities and technology in the medical field, as well as to take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of airport users. “Mr. Mohammed Abdullah Al Zarooni, Acting Director General of Sharjah Medical District said: “We are delighted to sign a memorandum of understanding with the Sharjah Airport Authority, which is consistent with our strategy to raise the level of medical services and broaden the base of the health care system through supporting centers and medical units which are owned by or related to the government entities that embody the concept of health care presence at the workplace. Sharjah International Airport is frequented by a large segment of the public, whether passengers or airport users, therefore providing excellent health care to a large number of people and supporting the airport’s medical Center is one of the goals that we seek to achieve in line with our development strategy. “The MoU also mentions that the Sharjah Medical District will provide medicines and medical supplies for emergency services and emergency cases at the center, as well as to spread health awareness and promote health education among personnel working for SAA, through seminars, conferences, discussion sessions and workshops to be organized by SAA. Both sides will also enhance measures aimed at avoiding practices harmful to health and adhering to the principle that prevention is better than cure, in addition to organizing regular meetings to exchange views and information regarding the treatment of issues that stand in the way of joint collaboration, exchange experiences and strengthen aspects of cooperation in the preparation and implementation of joint programs in the field of providing medical services and health awareness, and benefit from the expertise of international and regional organizations involved in medical services and health affairs through their involvement in the events organized by the parties from time to time.A joint committee will also be formed between the two parties shall meet whenever necessary, with a view to continuous coordination and review of the mechanisms of action in a way that contributes to the implementation of the MoU, and to explore any other mutually beneficial programmes under this agreement.
