Sharjah, UAE 12 March, 2017: Sharjah Airport Authority showcases the latest developments recently adopted by the Government of Sharjah, as well as the services and facilities offered to companies, travelers or airport users, in ITB Berlin Convention from 8th to 12th March 2017. The participation of Sharjah Airport Authority delegates, comes within the delegation representing the Emirate of Sharjah under the umbrella of Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority. As well as the presence of representatives from the most important travel agencies, hospitality and hotel sectors in Sharjah.
During the event, H.E Ali Salim Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Airport Authority and H.E Sheikh Faisal Bin Saoud Al Qassimi, Director of Sharjah Airport Authority launched SATA – Sharjah Airport Travel Agency – B2B Online Portal which is yet another milestone achieved by SATA since the launch of their B2C Portal in WTM 2016 London. SATA, owned by Sharjah Airport Authority, continuously strives to meet business needs in line with the latest technological developments. SATA also announced their second phase characterized by further integration and options making their partners benefit through one integrated solution.
The Portal also provides an opportunity for Sub Agents to do business with ease and full transparency. The Portal is user friendly weather accessed on the website or on Smartphones and is manageable with a single agent login. Business partners would also be able to book and issue Flights, Hotel reservations and Visas online, with the ease of making payments online, by using Credit Cards, Prepaid Cards or Payment Gateways.

Sheikh Faisal Bin Saoud Al Qassimi, Director of Sharjah Airport Authority, said: “ITB Berlin has proven its effectiveness and importance on a global level, as it provides opportunities to meet with a network of important partners and do with business with them respectively. The airport handled more than 11 million passengers from January to December 2016, registering a 10 percent year-on-year increase in 2015. This requires us to continue our efforts in attracting more passengers from different markets, especially the European market which we consider as one of the important markets to attract more tourists from. The convention also gives us an opportunity to cooperate with companies from the Aviation and Tourism sectors to benefit from the enormous potential of the Emirate of Sharjah, and enhance its position as a leading tourism and trade destination in the region”.
ITB Berlin is one of the leading global travel trade shows in the industry. In 2016 over 10,000 companies and organizations from 187 countries exhibited their products and services to 180,000 visitors, including 120,000 trade visitors.
