Sharjah International Airport Authority has recently received the ISO 2013: 27001 Quality Assurance Certificate for Information Security Management System. ISO 2013: 27001 adds to the airport’s record of accredited certifications as part of its commitment to provide services that meet the highest quality standards and follow the best international practices.

HE Ali Salim Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Airport Authority, said “Striving for excellence is the foundation for all plans that manage our business. Our ISO 27001: 2013 certification confirms our commitment to internationally-recognised standards and to providing the highest level of service to our customers. Sharjah International Airport Authority’s focus on efficiency and creating a secure environment ensures complete confidentiality for all the parties.”

“This achievement is due to the constant support from the leadership and is motivated by the guidance from government authorities to safely and effectively facilitate customer access to e-services. We adopted the world’s best practices and the highest level of service, which reflects positively on the image of Sharjah,” added Al Midfa.

From his part, Sheikh Faisal bin Saoud Al Qassimi, Director of Sharjah International Airport Authority, said that over the past years, the authority has made a series of updates to IT systems to offer the latest e-services. He pointed out that the Authority is very keen on regularly updating the technical systems to facilitate daily operations while ensuring compliance with IT standards.

“This certification was received after the Authority completed all the necessary steps to achieve compliance with the security standards required for accreditation and certification. This includes security policies that involve information, security risk management, business continuity, information security governance, human resources and operations management, systems development and protection, and others,” explained Al Qassimi.

ISO 2013:27001 is one of the most recognised international accreditation certificates in information security management. It requires the adoption and application of specific policies, procedures and systems to ensure the confidentiality and security of information.
