Sharjah, 28 November 2016: On the occasion of the 45th National Day of the United Arab Emirates, the Department of Civil Aviation & Sharjah Airport Authority organised yesterday (Monday) a number of national events.The ceremony was attended by HE Sheikh Khalid bin Issam Al Qassimi, Chairman of the Department of Civil Aviation, HE Ali Salim Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Airport Authority, HE Sheikh Sultan Bin Abdulla Al Thani, Director of the Department of Civil Aviation, and HE Sheikh Faisal Bin Saoud Al Qassimi, Director of Sharjah Airport Authority, in the presence of officials, heads and staff.The ceremony took place at the Department of Civil Aviation & Sharjah Airport Authority building and various stage activities took place such as: National Anthem, Quran reading, a poetry presented by Ali Alshowain and an ode presented by the young vocalist Nahyan Al Loughani. Additionally, there was henna corner, photo corner, hospitality corner, among others. Employees made a formation of the UAE flag outdoor and mosaic photo on the side.On this occasion, HE Sheikh Khalid bin Issam Al Qassimi, Chairman of the Department of Civil Aviation expresses his heartfelt congratulations and blessings to His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah and to the Highnesses, Rulers of the Emirates and to the people of the UAE. He pointed out that the commemoration of the Union every 2nd of December refreshes the memory of the great achievements of over 45 years.He highlights that the significant achievements we see today are the result of the efforts of the country’s founder Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan who built a strong foundation for the state. The National Day celebrations also reflect the unity among UAE nationals and their loyalty to our wise leadership who placed the UAE at a prominent state globally.”HE Ali Salim Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Airport Authority, said: “The government has followed the path of progress, excellence and overall renaissance since the founding of the Union. And now it put an ambitious post-oil strategy plan until 2021. It has taken advanced steps toward securing the happiness of its people and residents. It continues to progress for a high-productivity, competitive, knowledge-based economy based on innovation, research, science and technology while becoming in the ranks of advanced countries”.He pointed out that the achievements have been secured as a result of strong will of our wise leadership and future visions, in addition to the sacrifices of Emiratis who are aware that maintaining the gains comes only by our arms; they are the builders and protectors of this country. The Sharjah International Airport has witnessed the evolution of the UAE in general and Sharjah in particular, to become today one of the renowned international airports in the region.
