To facilitate the inspections procedures and to fulfill security requirements at the Sharjah International Airport freight center Sharjah Airport Authority, Sharjah Police Headquarters and Department of Seaports & Customs sign a MoU.

Sharjah,08 May, 2016: Sharjah Airport Authority, Sharjah Police Headquarters and Department of Seaports & Customs signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in the field of inspection operations and related procedures.  The signing took place at the SAA building, in the presence HE Ali Salim Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Airport Authority, H.E Colonel AbdulSalam AbdulRahman bin Faris , director of  Sharjah Police Ports and Airports, H.E Mohammad Mir AbdulRahman , director of  Sharjah Seaports and Customs Department and officials from concerned government units.The MoU is imperative to strengthen all security requirements according to international standards and attract freight companies dealing with international companies as well.HE Ali Salim Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Airport Authority, assured that the Authority is keen to uphold the highest quality standards in dealing with handled shipments at the airport, comply with all UAE regulations in ensuring safe and smooth procedures. This comes at the time as Sharjah International Airport witnesses a continuous growth of traffic every year while dealing with thousands of tons of shipments.He added: “Sharjah International Airport maintains its reputation and efficiency in dealing with all kinds of shipments. The airport has modern facilities and equipment that provide the best services and transactions. This MoU will increase the level of cooperation with other parties, as well as freight companies that deal with the airport”.H.E Colonel AbdulSalam AbdulRahman bin Faris , director of  Sharjah Police Ports and Airports said: “Sharjah International Airport is one of the important gateways for the United Arab Emirates in general, and the Emirate of Sharjah in particular. It handles a large volume of various shipment types, as well as dealing with many freight companies. Therefore, we are committed to enhancing public safety, and improve the services that we offer by strictly applying new security procedures. “H.E Mohammad Mir AbdulRahman , director of  Sharjah Seaports and Customs Department said: “The signing of the agreement enhances the fruitful cooperation between us, Sharjah International Airport and Sharjah Police. We are keen to simplify transport procedures to ensure the smooth movement of goods between ports and the container center, and we’ll provide a container detector to make sure shipments undergo scrutiny to further ensure public safety.”Under the MoU, some of staff will be working at the container center for 24 hours to ensure that all procedures are performed efficiently and effectively.  A container detector will be provided to secure a safe place to store the shipments.
