Sharjah International Airport and Saudia Cargo have announced an enhancement in their cooperation with Saudia Cargo choosing Sharjah International Airport as a cargo hub for its operations in United Arab Emirates.Sharjah Airport became a strategic choice for Saudia Cargo, thanks to the airport’s efficiency of operations, making it easier for the company to service its customers in the region.H.E. Ali Salim Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Airport Authority stated:”Saudia Cargo through a careful study have decided to strengthen its presence in UAE by making SHJ Airport a major HUB, keeping its operations easier for its customer base, capitalizing on market demand and the strategic location of the Airport. Saudia Cargo presently is an online freight carrier in Sharjah and this move extends its operations into 5 weekly flights.Mr. Peter Scholten, Vice President Commercial at Saudia Cargo said: “With the consolidation of all our 5 weekly B747 freighter flights in Sharjah we are able to improve our freighter operation in UAE. The UAE is a strategic market for us where we have strong position. In addition to our freighters in Sharjah we operate 84 passenger flights per week from Dubai International Airport to Saudi Arabia.”Mr. Tony Smith, General Manager Sharjah Aviation Services, the exclusive ground handling service provider at Sharjah International Airport stated: “the return of Saudia Cargo into Sharjah International Airport is a testament‎ to not only the competitiveness of SHJ, but also a further proof of its efficiency of services and procedures, a value add that all carriers look for when expediting their cargo”.
